about
Huckleberry Finn & Me’ is a jaunt back in time to the long carefree rambling days of childhood. Days spent searching out childhood treasures, when time stood still. Time spent roaming country roads on bicycles, fishing and searching for hidden apple orchards. Is there not a Huckleberry Finn in all of us, the spirit of adventure waiting to be unleashed? Perhaps this song can be a signpost or a gentle nudge back to that Spirit of Adventure. The song questions, as adults could we not take more time, to sing and dance, to create magical times together.
lyrics
Verse 1
The wind blew through the dappled trees, bringing fortune onto me
Bringing back those carefree days, when brothers roamed so free
Skimming pebbles out across the lake, colours yellow, brown and green
Sandwiches, flask, some fishing line, Huckleberry Finn and me
Verse 2
Down the country lanes and byways, we'd ramble outside time
Chasing golden rainbows, down the back roads of the mind
Digging deep for treasure, till we found the China Sea
Two small boys with grown-ups spades, Huckleberry Finn and me
Chorus
Remember the sky, we were the stars
You'd a six gun just like Jesse James, I was Crazy horse
Scraps of maps and treasure, in our tree house hideaway
Never thought we'd grow up, Huckleberry Finn and me
verse 3
A mile of country roadway, a journey fit for kings
Every ditch was ours to take, every blooming thing
Finding apples in O Leary's field, the evening coloured in the day
Seeking out the unworn paths, where we could steal away
Verse 4
But time it waits for no-one, and we never take the time
To sing and dance, and race and run, like small boys in the sun
I watched the walls between us grow, where once they stood so low
One more time we'll hop the wall, huckleberry Finn and me
Chorus
Remember the sky, we were the stars
You'd a six gun just like Jesse James, I was Crazy horse
Scraps of maps and treasure, in our tree house hideaway
Never thought we'd grow up, Huckleberry Finn and me
